Alternating caps exists in English, where text is displayed sOmeThINg liKe tHiS, usually to indicate sarcasm or mockery in text-based chat. Knowing that Katakana can be used to display emphasis in Japanese, in a way that can be viewed as similar to English's capital letters, I thought to myself:
